ALMANAC-8 soccer poll

Friday September 17, 2010

The Almanac-8 ranks the top eight teams in the Southwestern Indiana area. The poll is released twice a month during the soccer season.

Rank Team Record Comment
1 (1) Memorial 7-0-2 Memorial pushed to the top spot in the state, but the 1-1 tie against Castle puts even more emphasis on the Harrison game. Their 9/25 match against rivals #7 Carmel looks enticing too.
2 (9) Castle 6-1-4 The Knights earned some street cred by beating Washington and tying Memorial. Their only loss way back in the opener seems a long time ago.
3 (20) Harrison 6-1-3 The Memorial-Castle tie puts the Warriors back on top with the SIAC race. A draw against the Tigers at the end of September could spell a 3-way tie
4 (16) Washington 9-3 A humbling loss to Castle has the Hatchets mending, but the Big 8 title is in sight with the upcoming Jasper match
5 Jasper 8-2-1 The Wildcats are in fine form but have yet to beat a ranked team. Will archrivals Washington be the exception? (Jasper hasnt't beaten them since 2005)
6 Washington Catholic 8-1-1 The Cardinals have looked solid of late and are on track to take their first Blue Chip title
7 Gibson Southern 9-1-3 The Titans keep winning big including some good teams at the Hoosier cup, but what was that against Lincoln?
8 North 7-4 The Huskies have gone 1-3 in the last four games but playing three ranked teams, including two in the top 10, is always tough. The week off has them preparing for Mater Dei to see who completes the top half of the SIAC

Also worth noting: Mater Dei, Forest Park, Day School
