SIAC
#10AA North is undefeated in the conference
and one win away from grabbing their first SIAC title since 2003. With a game in hand, the Huskies play #15AA Memorial next Monday in
a likely conference championship.
The Tigers, having given up a game against Reitz,
need a victory over North which would probably result in the two teams sharing the title.
Last years' champs Castle, as well as
Reitz and
#2A Mater Dei, have an outside chance,
but it is very outside considering North and Memorial would both have to lose to Bosse.
Eliminated: Harrison, Central, Bosse
Current standings
City
North is in the driver's seat for their first city
title since 2003. A tie against Memorial would ensure a share of the title, but the Huskies have a good chance of winning it outright with
Bosse left to play.
Last year's city champs Memorial will play the
uncharacteristic role of spoiler. Even after slipping up, the Tigers can still beat North to realistically grab a share of the
title.
Mater Dei and
Reitz are still in the running but--as mentioned
above--would need Bosse to pull off two huge upsets.
Eliminated: Harrison, Central, Bosse
Current standings
Big 8
CONFERENCE WINNER: Jasper
The Big 8 is usually a two-team race between rivals Jasper and Washington, and this year was no different.
Personally not a fan of PKs, the Wildcats clinched the title Tuesday night after tying Washington through two overtimes.
Current standings
Prveious Big 8 champions
PAC
#5A Heritage Hills are undefeated
and knocking of stronger AA schools. Having beat the other two strongest teams in the conference, the Patriots are on track
to win their second title in three years. It will be interesting to see how they do against Mater Dei
Forest Park, last year's champs
#14A Gibson Southern and
North Posey have all gone 1-1
against each other to effectively knock them out of the title race
Pike Central is also still
in the running with 4 conference games left on their home stretch
Eliminated: South Spencer
Current standings
Blue Chip
Missing results are hindering us from analyzing this conference in too much detail.
Wood Memorial is a strong
candidate to repeat as Blue Chip champs especially with usual powerhouse Washington Catholic having a rough year.
Eliminated: Washington Catholic
