Evansville Central High School Football History

Central was called Evansville High School from 1854 until 1918, when a second Evansville public high school was opened.

Evansville High School's football record from 1896, when they began, until 1907 was 22-11-1.

In 1919, Central played their home games at Old Baseball Park, located at Louisiana and Baker Avenues.

On October 18, 1929, Central played Bicknell in the first ever night game in Evansville, defeating them 7 to 6.

Central was part of the Indiana High School Football Conference in the twenties and early thirties, which featured several of the top teams in all of the areas of the state.

Central High School has  played North for the Buehler's Buy-Low North Bowl Trophy during Week 9 of the regular season every year since 1992.
